  • Is Cotterill a working farm?

    No Cotterill Farm is a non-working farm. It is a quiet site for its cottages but with it being surrounded by fields sheep will be found grazing throughout the year and during summer the meadow fields will be made into hay.

  • Check in/out time

    Arrival time from 4pm onwards

    Departure up to 10am 

  • EV Charging

    We currently DO NOT offer the use of charging electric cars, this is due to the infrastructure in place.


    We ask guests to respect our policy's and not to charge via their cottage

  • Are there pubs & restaurants nearby?

    Yes, in Biggin you'll find both the Waterloo pub and Biggin hall 0.4mile way from site.

    In Hartington you'll find both pub & restaurant.


    It is advised to book in advance if you'd like a meal 

  • Supermarkets/Shops

    Supermarkets- 

    You'll find a supermarket in all of the major towns around us. Buxton, Ashbourne, Matlock and Leek.

    They are all roughly a 20 minutes drive away from the site


    Farm/Small shops-

    You will find either a small/farm shops in both Hartington & Newhaven garage - both are a 5 minute drive from the site.

  • Can I have my shopping delivered to Cotterill?

    Yes, most supermarkets will deliver to the site. 

    We ask you to book at time slot suitable for you to be there to accept it.

  • Is Cotterill pet friendly?

    Cotterill barn is our ONLY dog friendly cottage. It is situated near the drive entrance and is 250 metres away from the other cottages on site.

  • Can I get phone signal?

    The Peak District in general isn't the best for phone signal. 

    EE is the best mobile provider, the others may struggle. But if you are on site you can connect to the Wifi for wifi calling

  • Is there wifi on site?

    Yes, we have both 4g satellite and BT broadband - we can not gurentee the speeds due to our rural location but if there are any issues we will try to rectify them as soon as possible.

  • Can I walk/cycle from the door?

    Yes, we are perfectly situated for both. You can find the start of  Biggin Dale popular walk in the Peak District just 120yrds from our entrance. From there you can join Wolfescote dale to Beresford dale or Milldale to Dovedale.

    Tissington trial is just 0.9mile away via village access.

    Other walks and trails can be found local

  • Can I rent the whole site?

    Yes, we regularly have guests renting more than 1 cottage at a time.


    Our 7 cottages sleep a total of 29 people.

  • Do your cottages have log burners?

    2 of our cottages have a log burner-

    we will leave an initial 'starter pack' between the months of November-March this includes-

    A basket of logs

    kindle

    Fire lighters & newspaper


    Logs & kindle can both be bought in Hartington and Newhaven garage, 5 minute drive from site

  • Is Cotterill bike friendly?

    Yes, in the courtyard we have a open fronted bike store with tie down points for guests to bring their bikes. We do not provide chains so we advise guests to bring their own means of security.


    Cotterill Barn has its own lockable bike shed on its garden

  • Is there books/games/DVDs provided?

    No, we do not supply these items as we feel it's personal preference and there is nothing worse than missing pieces in games and extra clutter in the cottages.

  • Is there plenty of parking?

    Yes, all our cottages have parking next to their cottages.


    If you inform the owners upon arrival an overflow car park can be used with no charge. Whether it's a large party or visitors for the day

  • Can I have a bbq?

    Yes, you are welcome to bring your own bbq. There are stones/grates provided for you to put your bbqs on.


    Please think about the area before using - if it's a dry summer and there's hay in the surrounding fields.

  • Is there somewhere to do my laundry?

    Yes, theres is a laundry room which includes a washer and dryer for guests to share.


    The Farmhouse has its own washer & dryer.

    Cotterill Barn has its own washer
